Choose Capital Firewood.

We are a local, family-run business who have been supplying the Western Bay of Plenty with quality firewood for over 20 years.

                                            **********

Due to unforeseen circumstances we will be taking a break from selling firewood this season, and will reassess our position in the middle of 2024.

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience to our valued customers.

Keep warm with Capital Firewood.

Keep your family warm and dry with our best-seasoned firewood that is dry and ready to burn. Our standard product is split pine, and our hardwood will vary throughout the year depending on what we have sourced. We also have bags of kindling available.

In our experience, it is best to get your firewood during the summer months to ensure you are well prepared for those sneaky cold Autumn nights, although we do deliver all year round.

Pile of pine firewood

 SOLD OUT

Our softwood contains a load of our quality Pine supply. Pine generally dries faster than hardwood and burns quicker than most. It is an excellent choice for getting your fire started.

Larger loads are a cheaper price per metre.

Pile of hot mix firewood

 SOLD OUT

Our mixed wood supply contains both hardwood and softwood. We provide Macrocarpa and Pine in this mix.

Firewood gum logs

 SOLD OUT

Our hard wood for 2024 is beautiful Blackwood. This  will take a few weeks longer to dry than the pine, but is longer burning and gives more heat. Hard wood is your best chance at keeping your fire going overnight.

Larger loads are a cheaper price per metre.

Bags of kindling

 SOLD OUT

Our kindling bags are filled with our off-cuts from the firewood splitting process. You will find various wood types and sizes in all our kindling bags.

Each bag is approximately 10kg.

How much is 2?

If you are not familiar with the term cubic metres (m3 is the abbreviation for a cubic metre). It can be difficult to picture just how much wood you will get if you order 2, or a full truck load of 6. A 2 load is equivalent to a thrown pile of firewood 2 metres long, 1 metre tall and 1 metre deep. Our cubic metres are all thrown.

Processing Of Our Firewood

We cut our wood product to fit a standard fireplace, and most pieces are approximately 30 - 35cm long. In your order you will receive a variety of sizes due to the nature of wood when it is split. Splitting logs is not a tidy job, and sometimes the logs will ‘crack’ rather than ‘slice’. Therefore all loads will contain small amounts of kindling and starter wood pieces. Save these pieces, as they are great to get the fire going. This is given in surplus to the amount of wood ordered.

Storage & Seasoning Of Our Firewood

All our firewood is open-air dried, and covered when we have warning that rain is on the way. Sometimes it does get a bit rain-wet if we don’t get enough warning, or if the covers get blown off - but this will dry off quickly with the next sunny days. There is also a chance there may be a small percentage that any load of seasoned wood may have absorbed some water from the ground – but we are always open and honest about that. That means that if you pick up a piece of wood that feels heavier than the rest, it is probably one that has been on the base of the pile. You will need to put it to the side and let it air dry out. The rest of the load will be good for immediate burning.
